Landon Lovett

For those of you who are not aware, Alpha Chi lost one of their sisters, Landon Lovett, on Tuesday, November 20th. Landon was involved in a terrible vehicle accident over Memorial Day weekend and has since been in long-term care. Funeral arrangements can be found here: http://www.funeralquestions.com/obits/fck/memorial.asp?listing_id=187323

Please remember the Lovett family during this difficult time, especially through the holidays. Also keep in mind the sisters of Alpha Chi as they must lay a sister to rest. The Facebook page can be utilized for any of you wishing to make carpool arrangements to Marshall County for the funeral or visitation.

Stay safe over Thanksgiving and never forget how much we have to be thankful for.

Alpha Chi Recruitment Info

Here's how YOU can help!!
Help with decorating for Preference the night of Friday, August 24th at around 8:30/9pm.
o   Mary Phoenix will be organizing all the decorating this year for Preference and will be there that night.
o   If you are available to help, please email or text Mary Phoenix (her contact info is below) so she can send an email to you with further details at a later date.

·         Help with food for the dinner break during Theme parties (August 24th) by donating and/or coordinating.
o   It takes money to feed 100 hungry AOIIs that have been working their butts off!!  Instead of asking for food donations and hoping there is enough for everyone – it is easier to collect money and let one person organize the efforts.
o   If you can donate ANY amount of moneyPLEASE send it to Mary Phoenix at the address below or drop it in the AOII mailbox in an envelope with her name on it by next Friday – August 17th
o Also, if you are available that Friday afternoon (August 24th) to prepare (pick-up, deliver) the food and have it ready for the girls to eat at 5 – please let her know.

·         Recruit others to help!
o   Whether you can help with the above items or not – please pass this information along to other AOIIs in the area you may know that would be willing to help as it is hard to inform everyone!

Here is the recruitment schedule for those asking:
Wednesday, August 22nd:  Go Greek Rounds @ Knicely Center– 5:30 – 11:05 (10 parties, 20 minutes each, 15 minute breaks)
Thursday, August 23rd:  GTYK @ AOII House– 5:30 – 11:15 (8 parties, 30 minutes each, 15 minute breaks)
Friday, August 24th:  Theme @ Chapter Room – 1:00 – 8:05 (6 parties, 45 minutes each, 20 minute breaks, and dinner break from 5 – 6:15)
Saturday, August 25th:  Preference @ Chapter Room – 1:00 – 4:40 (3 parties, hour long each, 20 minute breaks)

If you would like to submit a MIF- please visit fill out this form as it is THE ONLY form of MIFs we are allowed to accept!!!

**The alum preview night will be Monday, August 20th at 6:30 in the chapter room. Please know when they perform for you all they will still have an entire day of workshop to improve so it will be nice to have that time to work on your suggestions if you have any for them.  They will not ALL be in their "full-out" attire, but you will get to see the decorations, skit, and so forth and be able to get a grasp of their hard work while they will get the first pressures of performing it for the first time with an audience. If you have been before you know the seats fill fast, so please be on time.  While we want everyone to be able to share this "performance", there are only so many seats in the chapter room

Mary Phoenix can be reached at 270-302-1231; maryp.mccubbin@gmail.com; or 2600 Chandler Dr #1532, Bowling Green, KY 42104

Can't wait to see you all during this extremely busy, but incredibly fun week of recruitment!

Fall Fun

The Alpha Chi chapter of AOII at Western Kentucky University will be holding Fall 2012 Recruitment August 22-25! Stay tuned for dates for alum viewing, decorating and other info!

There will be a fall planning meeting to discuss new and exciting things happening with the BG Alumnae Chapter! We will be talking about: Stella's Choice (a new monthly event decided on by members), a vendor fair (for actives and alums to showcase their Mary Kay, Thirty-One, homemade items, etc), a punch card with rewards at the end of the semester, and MANY other ideas that you bring to the table! The date is TBA so be sure to check back often so you don't miss out on the opportunity for fun and fellowship with your sisters!

Save the Date: WKU Homecoming will be October 20th!! Pencil that day (and the night before) into your calendar so you can meet new sisters and revisit those college memories with old ones!

Get excited for all the ways you can share in our sisterhood that extends beyond the collegiate years!

“We wanted a society that should continue our companionship through life, and extend the like joys to others, usefully, unselfishly and without pettiness.  We wanted to enshrine, sublimate and perpetuate our love and our unity through service worthy of these blessings, deserving to persist.  We wanted a fraternity that should carry on the delightful fellowships and cooperations of college days into the workaday years magnanimously, both in school and afterwards." -Stella George Stern Perry
